Many people are having lots of problem with Metro app of Window 8. One of the major issues is that Metro apps always fail to open the files when the tiles are clicked by the user. If you have installed Window 8 and facing the same issue in running metro apps then it may be because of the following reasons. The first searched reason is about the screen resolution of your computer system. Many of the users of Window 8 don’t know that the Window 8 requires high screen resolution of 1024×768. It simple means that the resolution of your screen must be at least 1024×768 or higher than this. Steps to Check Screen Resolution of your computer System
First you have to right-click on your Desktop and then you have to select the Screen Resolution option for opening Screen Resolution window.
- Now after this the current screen resolution will appear next to the Resolution box.
- If the screen resolution of your computer system is lower than 1024 x 768 pixels, then you can set a higher resolution by making required adjustment.
- For changing the current screen resolution, you have to click on screen Resolution box and select a higher resolution.
- If your computer system meets the lowest screen resolution requirement as specified above and still you are not able to run Metro apps means that you have to verify the condition of User Account Control (UAC).
- Generally the Metro apps fail to open when the UAC is turned off. For check if the UAC is ON or OFF, you need to follow the below given steps.
- First you have to open Run dialog box. For doing this, you have to use Windows + R keys.
- Now you have to type control.exe in the box and then press enter key to launch Control Panel.
- When the Control Panel opens ups then you have to click on System and Security and then hit change User Account Control settings for open UAC settings window…
If your Metro apps of Window 8 are not functioning even after following the above given steps, then you may deem in making a new user account. You can do this job either from command prompt or from control panel.
How to create a New User Account
For creating a new user account, you have to type the given command in an elevated prompt i.e. the Command Prompt with admin rights
“Net user username password /add” (replace “username” with a custom name and “password” with a strong password)
The last option- Refreshing Windows 8
The last option for solving this issue is to refresh your Windows 8 by using “Refresh PC option”. It will help in reloading the Windows without deleting your data.
